Communications and Engagement Manager

The Team

The Knowledge Hub leads on knowledge management, learning, communications and branding, both within Itad and externally, and plays a key role in maintaining the technical quality of our work. Our growing, multi-disciplinary team includes monitoring and evaluation consultants and learning facilitators, as well as experts on information technology, communications, branding and design. The Knowledge Hub supports staff across Itad to effectively capture and share knowledge, as well as helping staff deliver high quality work through technical support, training and quality assurance.

Externally, the Knowledge Hub leads on communications and sharing high quality, innovative MEL assignments, contributing to building the field around the use of evidence in international development.


The Role

We are recruiting a Communications and Engagement Manager to join our team who has specific experience in international development.  They will be responsible for managing our website, publications and digital media, providing editorial, strategic and creative support across the whole Itad team. They will also identify and optimise public relations opportunities and facilitate positive media engagement across our multiple media platforms. They will work with our Brand Co-ordinator to manage and co-ordinate the Itad brand, and ensure that our products and events are consistent with our brand and values.

Working collaboratively across the whole Itad team, they will support learning through the facilitation of cross-organisational learning workshops; production of knowledge resources and engaging internal sharing events. They will also play an important role in our learning and development programme, leading on training for communications, writing styles and presentation.

For external communications, the Communications and Engagement Manager will collaborate with our business development team to develop marketing materials and events that reflect our experience and values. This will also involve identifying communication priorities across the business and deliver impactful content that effectively share our knowledge and build our reputation.   


The candidate

You will be an experienced international development communications professional, comfortable working with the technical content of research and evaluation.  Your track record will demonstrate an ability to translate complex material into engaging and accessible media across a range of  channels, providing the strategic, creative and editorial support necessary for impactful content.

You will have developed and led teams to shape and implement communications strategies and plans and been proactive in identifying and delivering on opportunities that continue building the field around the use of evidence in international development.


The role is based in our offices in Brighton & Hove (East Sussex) but will largely work remotely for the foreseeable future.  However, you will already have the right to live and work in the UK and be able to occasionally travel to the office when needed


The salary for this role is up to £40K plus generous benefits
