Practice Overview

Our Fragile and Conflict-affected Settings (FCAS) Practice provides monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) support to our clients to help them make evidence-informed decisions about how to deliver the greatest impact in conflict and crisis settings. We pride ourselves on the consistently high quality of our technical services to clients, and our ability to support decisions through strategic advice and accessible products.

Our rapidly growing team is delivering a range of exciting projects for UK Government and UN agencies. We are providing MEL support to the UK Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) across more than 20 countries in East Africa, Middle East and North Africa. Our work covers a range of policy priorities including preventing violent extremism, migration, conflict prevention and peacebuilding, and security sector reform. We also carry out global evaluations of donor and aid agency support to tackling humanitarian crises and improving protection for refugees and internally displaced people.

 

The Role

We are recruiting for an Analyst to join the FCAS Practice to input and support projects across the whole portfolio.   They will contribute to project delivery, develop and own stakeholder relationships, contribute to business development activities and build our reputational capital and market presence.  The core technical strengths of all our consultants are focused around four key areas:

  • Evidence Advocate:  generating robust evidence and using this to support clients and shape global debates;
  • Change Agent:  supporting clients in reflecting, learning and managing change;
  • Project Manager: contributing to and building high performing project teams that deliver quality and commercial targets;
  • Trusted Advisor: building long term relationships with clients and partners that add value and deliver commercial success.

 While we understand you will probably be at the start of your career, we expect analysts to have a base level of skill across these four strengths.  To further support this, we pride ourselves on providing a comprehensive learning and development programme to all staff.  When you join us, we will work with you to map your strengths and identify areas for support and develop a personalised programme of training and on the job mentoring. 

 

 The Candidate

You will ideally have a post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline and have already applied this within the international development or research sector.  As an evidence advocate you will have a solid grounding a range of data collection and analysis tools and will have applied this to generate clear evidence-based insights.   As a change agent you will have demonstrable experience of using your facilitation skills and flexing your communication style to influence others.  As a project manager, you will have experience in contributing to planning and managing initiatives to a high quality and budget. As a trusted adviser you will have skills in developing and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders.

The salary for this role is up to £25K depending on your skills and experience.  In addition, we also offer a comprehensive learning and development programme, 24 days holiday plus additional time off over Christmas, matched company pension up to 5%, and a discretionary bonus.  Other benefits include Cycle to Work scheme, eyecare vouchers, weekly fruit and subsidised yoga classes in our offices.

This role is a 6 month fixed term contract
